Recently, the issue of reading has captured wide media attention, constantly occupying the headlines, stimulated heated discussions among numerous experts and scholars. People from different backgrounds, however, put different interpretations on this issue.
On my personal level, reading is not only a critical part of learning and growth, but also can light an emotional spark within us, which is an effective way to remove our loneliness and purify the mind.
To start with, when it comes to the cultivation of individual habits, nothing can be compared with reading. This habit is part and parcel to the personal growth and its absence will definitely lead to one's poor performance and low achievement. People with the habit of reading not only accumulate wealth, but will also establish their career, fit into society, and even attain social status. In addition, as the proverb by Gorky, the book is the ladder of human progress. The past three decades have witnessed our overwhelmingly excessive emphasis on first-hand and concrete experiences and unawareness of the importance of reading, which plays a pivotal role in cultivating and forming good learning and thinking habits. It is universally acknowledged that nowadays is the time which the knowledge changes with each new day, which requests people to have the life-long learning consciousness and ability. Only after we cultivate and form the habit of reading can we learn something new without any difficulty after we graduated from school, put it another way, we will be better to adapt ourselves to the life-long study
society. For instance, Yu Minhong, the president of the new Oriental, has read about 800 books during his college and attributed his success to reading, best illustrates the importance of reading.
China is developing at seven league strides, and no thinking man would refuse to admit the fact that the commitment to individual prosperity requires the habit of reading, which has a considerable influence to one's learning and growth.To recapitulate, only when we cultivate and form good reading habits can we witness the ideal scene in which people can enjoy their life to the uttermost.
