1. 如果动词或动词+介词后面直接跟动名词,则动名词所表示的动作应是由动词的主语所做出的: Tom insisted on reading the letter. 汤姆坚持要看信。（汤姆看了信。）

如果把所有格形容词或代词置动名词之前，则动名词所表示的动作应是由所有格形容词或代词所表明的人做出的： He insisted on my/me reading it. 他坚持要我读一读。（我不得不读。）

2. 可以与上述两种结构中的任何一种连用的动词及短语有: Dislike propose understand

You can’t prevent his/him spending his own money. 你不能阻止他花自己的钱。

4. 所有格形容词与宾格代词的比较：

在正式英语中，动名词与所有格形容词连用；但在口语或非正式的英语中，常常使用代词而不用所有格形容词。因此学生在用法上可以有所选择，但以使用代词为佳。

当shop意指prevent（防止）时，代词要比所有格形容词更为常用： I can’t stop him writing to the papers. 我无法阻止他给报纸写信。

5. 名词与动名词连用

在非正式的英语中，名词后面带动名词时，要用名词所有格形式： I don’t remember my mother’s complaining about it. 我不记得我母亲为此抱怨过。 但更常见得多的用法是省略”s”: I do not remember my other complaining. 我不记得我母亲抱怨过。
